Hands-on Conservation Work  |  Peer-to Peer Network  |  Low Carbon Retreat  |  Nature Connection & Meditation

3 days  |  2 nights
A nature based retreat for in-house and freelance sustainability professionals, helping you recharge your batteries, have a positive impact and nurture your professional mycelium network.

Working in ESG and CSR can feel like an uphill battle these days. If you're also working in a city based environment, it is easy to be disconnected from what you're trying to protect. Our Sustain retreats are designed to bring in-house and freelance sustainability professionals together in nature, providing the time, inspiration and opportunity for learning and networking, whilst recharging and rejuvenating your commitment to driving real planet-positive change.

Set in a stunning natural landscape of wildflower meadows, ancient woodland, salt marshes and rivers, our Sustain retreats are a chance to get a unique insight into the workings of a forward thinking, innovative large estate. We'll learn about how the land is managed through mob-grazing and collaborations with tenant farmers, to efforts to link upstream land-owners, ocean plastic removal and the management of the SSSI estuary.

After three days, you'll leave feeling refreshed, energised and full of ideas for implementation to put to management or your clients.

Is Sustain for you?

The programme includes a mix of adventurous activities designed to take you out of your comfort zone, hands-on conservation work to drive positive impact and time spent in nature to provide balance, inspiration and ecological insight into our every day work.

A full disconnect from the office along with the time, space and surroundings to help see the bigger picture may seem like a luxury, but it's actually an investment in you and your commitment to planet earth.

Our wild guides and facilitators will be on hand to bring the natural landscape to life and help you feel nourished and invigorated.

Sharing this journey with fellow CSR/ESG professionals, people who understand the highs, lows and challenges of working in this field, means you'll come away with insights, ideas and an on-going network of peers for you to turn to in the months and years ahead.

"Sometimes the best way to move forward is to step back, shift the lens, breathe, and see the bigger picture. When we zoom out, problems shrink, gratitude grows, and fresh ideas flood in. If you need inspiration on how to do that in the wildest, most meaningful way possible, check out The Bioasis in Devon!"

The Programme

Active, educational & hands-on conservation work

Embark on a three day, two night retreat to Bioasis Basecamp, set deep in the heart of the Bioasis. The programme includes a mixture of activities, learning and reflection:

  • Off-grid and surrounded by nature: Having left our vehicles on day one, our only form of transport will be our own two feet to explore the forests and meadows of The Bioasis, as well as canoes to explore the river, salt marshes and estuary.

  • Hands-on CSR, ocean plastics and estate insights: We’ll get stuck in with on-going conservation efforts on the removal of invasive plant species such as Rhododendron and Himalayan Balsam. We'll hear from Ocean Plastic specialists and also how the estate is being managed, from the challenges and successes, to tree planting and the local collaborations being undertaken and working with Natural England and other bodies.

  • Walkie-Talkies: What do you get if you mix walking in ancient woodlands and wildflower meadows with species ID sessions and talks on ecology? The answer: professional networking and inspiration like you've never experienced before.

  • A chance to reflect: There will be plenty of time to reflect on our personal and professional journeys. We'll embark on morning meditation in the woodland, grounding us to planet earth and putting the world in perspective. Around the fire pit at night, the sounding board of your peers allows the sharing of expertise, ideas, support and solutions.

We hope you can join us for what will be a very special few days.

I loved our experience at the Bioasis. The camps are really well set up, the agenda is full of unique nature-based experiences and the staff are amazing. I returned home brimming with new ideas and feeling like I had done a full reset (much more of a reset than a 2 week holiday in Spain if I am honest!)"
