A wild weekend in the Bioasis

What happens when eight teachers from across the educational spectrum come together for a wild weekend at The Bioasis?
The answer, it turns out, is something quite magical.

Our inaugural Bioasis teacher retreat took place over the bank holiday and featured three days of adventure, conversation, woodland walks, time for reflection, good food, hands-on conservation work, nature based meditation, species ID sessions, smores and cream teas, more than a few good jokes and some terrible ones too.
It also featured a lost wedding ring and a guest appearance from five amateur detectorists (summoned through the power of our local network) but who, unfortunately, were unsuccessful in their search.
There was laughter, smiles and some tears too – an acknowledgment of the joys, challenges and strains of teaching and life in general.
But most of all, it was a beautiful weekend for eight strangers to come together and share their experience and vulnerability, to learn, to step off the treadmill and to embrace nature’s remarkable ability to restore and rejuvenate the soul.
